TIGRAN HAMASYAN

Dynamic jazz improvisations and folk music from his native Armenia are united in the work of pianist and composer Tigran Hamasyan. The winner of celebrated piano awards including the 2006 Thelonious Monk Jazz Piano Competition and the 2013 Montreux Jazz Festival, his unique language combines jazz with minimalist music, electronics, folk, singer-songwriting, symphonic rock and even metal. Hamasyan will be presenting The Call Within at L'Auditori, his 12th album as a leader and the most dynamic of all of them, inspired by elements as diverse as maps, poetry, legends, astrology, geometry, design and cinema. Hamasyan invites us on an epic journey to his inner world and his creative unconscious: "Inevitable moments of nostalgia, subliminal realization and, above all, happiness fill my body, while a work of art, a poem or a melody take shape in this world for no apparent reason, merely because humanity discovers the invisible: the divine mystery."
