Program

Three prominent analogue synthesizer artists will perform unique sessions as part of a day ‎organised with the OUT.SIDE programme, a cycle of unusual music hosted by arts centres in ‎Catalonia. German musician Thomas Lehn has developed his own electronic music language ‎in particular using the EMS Synthi A analogue synthesizer produced in 1971. He uses the ‎synthesizer as a live performance instrument and produces extraordinary high levels of ‎brilliance in his performances. Dutch musician Thomas Ankersmit’s work is focused on ‎exploring acoustic and psychoacoustic phenomena using a Serge Modular synthesizer (from ‎‎1974) and the digital processor from a computer. Sound reflections, infrasonic vibration, ‎otoacoustic emissions, ultra-directional sounds, feedback and signal interruptions, as well as ‎the deliberate misuse of equipment, are central to his extreme, visceral and at the same ‎time sophisticated sound phenomena vision. North American Keith Fullerton Whitman has ‎recorded around twenty electronic music albums since the 90s. His work is also based on a ‎hybrid system combining synthesizers, and processing and signal generating software. ‎Fullerton Whitman establishes work methods allowing him to create live electronic music, a ‎musical approach synonymous with the specialist world of modular synthesizers.‎
