One of the highlights of the season has arrived: Philip Sparke conducts the Barcelona Symphony Band with his own music, and what’s more, premieres new work. This promises to be a thrilling occasion that is not to be missed.Sparke is one of the most noteworthy band music composers in the world. He was born in London and habitually works in England, but his music has travelled beyond borders and, since the eighties, has been found on the music stands of the best orchestras across the globe, from the USA to Japan, passing through Europe. As well as giving us the gift of a world premiere, he will also present recent works, including Symphony No. 2 dedicated to the American city of Savannah and the Three Washington Statues inspired by Abraham Lincoln, Martin Luther King and Duke Ellington.
