Program
Two of the unmissable concerts this season are the performances of the two great Brahms sextets, brought to you through the collaboration between the Belcea and Casals Quartets. With this second concert we conclude the programme with a performance of String Sextet No.1, a work of great transparency and lyricism, which directly connects to Brahms’ symphonies. Composed in Detmold, it was first performed in Hamburg in 1860. The programme commences with Schubert’s great Quartet No. 15, which was the composer’s last work.
