A score by Igor Stravinsky which had been lost for more than 100 years was finally located a couple of years ago. The OBC wants to present it now to the public of Barcelona, under the baton of Finnish conductor Hannu Lintu, with one of the composer’s immortal Russian ballets.

Program

Stravinsky dedicated this work to the memory of his teacher, Rimsky-Korsakov, shortly after his death. It premiered in 1909 but had remained lost ever since. It was finally found in the archives of the St. Petersburg Conservatory and was re-premiered at the end of 2016. This missing link helps us to understand the course Stravinsky’ musical language took before presenting the ballets that made him the most respected composer in the world: The Firebird and Petrushka. Dutilleux too won the respect of the music world with his direct, non-speculative music, like this brilliant violin concerto, with a performance by St. Petersburg violinist Ilya Gringolts.
