Program
The Basque singer and actress Miren de Miguel presents a special New Year’s concert, an all-round show with staging, monologues, visual effects and eye-catching, varying costumes. With musical skill, an energetic voice and a touch of humour, De Miguel will perform the arias associated with some of the best-known protagonists of Italian opera, ranging from Cleopatra in the opera Giulio Cesare or Violetta Valery in La Traviata to Carmen or Madame Butterfly. All these female literary characters are as immortal as their personal tragedies. The Barcelona Symphony Band will be accompanying the soprano and performing some instrumental fragments, like “Elsa’s procession” from Lohengrin by Wagner or the prelude to the second act of Un ballo in maschera (Masked Ball) by Verdi.
