OBC CHAMBER MUSIC: DA CAMERA JAZZ SUITE

OBC CHAMBER MUSIC: DA CAMERA JAZZ SUITE

The chamber music offering by the OBC gives us the opportunity to ‎‎get to know the musicians of the Barcelona Symphony Orchestra ‎‎(OBC) in a much more intimate format. You are invited to enjoy one of the ‎concerts from last season with the OBC musicians. You can view it via this ‎link.‎

In the 1970s, fusion styles started to become popular, and ‎‎jazz and Baroque music played an important role in ‎them. Claude Bolling, a classically-trained jazz musician, wrote ‎several ‎creations he shared with renowned performers such as flautist Jean-Pierre Rampal, ‎violinist ‎Pinchas Zukerman, trumpet player Maurice André and cellist Yo-Yo Ma. It was for the ‎latter ‎that in 1984 he composed the Suite for Cello and Jazz Piano ‎Trio. This is a work ‎in six movements that combines Baroque style and jazz ‎with a highly-original approach and which achieved ‎record sales with the recording starring Yo-‎Yo Ma himself. On this occasion we present‏ ‏‎ the version for viola.‎
