Program
L’Auditori’s new digital record label is inaugurated with symphony band music. This opening concert will feature a piece by Carles Suriñach and one by Miquel Asins Arbó, two Barcelona-born composers who have pursued successful and highly acclaimed careers, one of them in the United States and the other in Valencia. An excellent opportunity to rediscover Catalonia’s musical heritage.

The world premiere of a work by Llíria clarinetist, conductor and composer Ximo Tarín adds further interest to the programme, a score with solo parts to be performed by the brass quartet Tetra Brass Bcn Ensemble, whose members are musicians from the Symphony Band. Robert Gerhard’s sardanas, considered a serious milestone for Catalan music, will kick off the evening with a surprising mix of tradition and avant-garde, a journey of sound to the most international Barcelona of 1929. All in all, a concert featuring Catalan authors intensely reminiscent of the collective memory and the shared present.
