Maaambo! is one of L’Auditori de Barcelona’s liveliest family shows. With stage direction by La Cubana and featuring the Barcelona Symphony Band, the show takes us to Latin America to discover its incomparable range of rhythm and music.
The Barcelona Symphony Band musicians are your guides on this exciting tour, which will transport passengers in Hall 1, Pau Casals from the tango to the son, taking in the mambo, danzón and joropo. The tour visits six countries, Cuba, Puerto Rico, Argentina, Mexico, Brazil and Venezuela where audiences will enjoy the style of traditional popular tunes, learn about some of the key figures in Latin-American music and see some of their best known dances.
The repertoire will include such iconic pieces as Mambo No. 8, La Conga del Fuego Nuevo, La Bamba, Libertango, El Malambo and Tico Tico. Finally, our journey takes us back across the Atlantic to Catalonia, where the musicians will bring us the charming habanera La bella Lola.
The stage direction of Maaambo! is by La Cubana. It is their first concert aimed at school and family audiences. All the costumes, choreography, audiovisuals and other features have been designed to make the event a real Latin fiesta.
Juan Miguel Romero will be responsible for musical direction replacing Henrie Adams, who has had to step down for health reasons. We all wish him a speedy recovery.
