Program

Casares’ music is characterised by the combination of two elements which, a priori, may seem opposing: composition and improvisation. This is demonstrated in his latest recording Sketches Overseas (Outside in Music, 2018), in which the precise arrangements of the pieces always leave room for the most avant-garde improvisation. Powerful bass lines, percussive arrangements and careful melodies place Casares' music within the aesthetics of so-called Straight Ahead Jazz.
