Lluc Casares porta el jazz més autèntic demà a L’Auditori de Barcelona

19-Feb-2021 – Aleix Palau

Saxophonist and clarinettist Lluc Casares will be appearing with his septet tomorrow ‎at 8 pm in Hall 3, Tete Montoliu at L’Auditori de Barcelona. Casares is one ‎of today’s most nomadic Catalan jazz musicians. After studying at the Escola ‎Superior de Música de Catalunya and the Conservatorium Van Amsterdam, he joined the ‎Artist Diploma Ensemble at the Juilliard School of Music in New York, directed by Wynton ‎Marsalis.‎

Casares’ music is characterised by a combination of two elements that ‎might, a priori, seem incompatible: composition and improvisation. This ‎can be seen in his latest recording Sketches Overseas (Outside In Music, 2018), ‎in which the careful arrangements always leave room for cutting-edge improvisation. With ‎strong bass lines, percussive chords and carefully crafted melodies, Casares’ music has much ‎in common with Straight Ahead Jazz. ‎

The concert will be live streamed tomorrow, 20 February, via L’Auditori Digital.‎
