The new Música de Cambra season opens on 14 October at L’Auditori de Barcelona. The season will begin with a concert dedicated to the folk-inspired choral music of Robert Gerhard, to mark the 125th anniversary of the composer's birth.
Soprano María Hinojosa Montenegro and mezzosoprano Anna Alàs i Jové, accompanied by Francisco Poyato and Anna Crexells on piano, will perform cycles dedicated to Catalan and French folksong, together with 7 Haiku for chamber ensembles conducted by Francesc Prat.
This concert is part of a recording project to which the L’Auditori contributed a recording by the Barcelona Symphony Orchestra of Gerhard's Cancionero de Pedrell (1941) and Six Catalan folksongs (1928). L’Auditori opens its Cambra season with choral works by Robert Gerhard
Cycles of Catalan and French folksongs and Gerhard’s 7 Haiku sung by soprano María Hinojosa Montenegro and mezzosoprano Anna Alàs i Jové form the backbone of the concert programme.
The concert is part of a recording project co-produced by L’Auditori and Seed Music with the participation of the Barcelona Symphony Orchestra and soprano Núria Rial.
