Monday 21 June sees the celebration of World Music Day, a landmark date that L'Auditori de Barcelona always embraces with a range of offerings.
This year, the World Music Day activities will start on Saturday 19 with the première of the Escenes series: Dones i Creació (Women and Creation). The first offering will be Pairidaeza by pianist and composer Marina Herlop that takes place on Saturday and Sunday in L'Auditori’s Sala 3, Tete Montoliu. Herlop’s show is set in a space designed by the Takk architectural practice and which features the vocal duo Tarta Relena.
On Sunday 20, the Museu de la Música will hold an open day, at 11 am there will be a guided tour and at 5.30 pm a concert by the gamelan group in L'Auditori’s Llanterna Bar.
21 June will also see Jordi Savall return to L'Auditori with Le Concert Des Nations and La Capella Reial de Catalunya to present Bach’s Mass in B minor. This sacred work will feature the brilliant voices of soprano Hana Blažíková, mezzo-soprano Sophie Harmsen, tenor Martin Platz, counter-tenor Raffaele Pe and bass Thomas Stimmel.
The climax to this celebratory week will be delivered by the Barcelona Symphony Orchestra on 25 June under the direction of Juanjo Mena with violinist Sergei Dogadin, who will perform a special concert exclusively for OBC subscribers.
There will also be a draw on social media for 10 tickets to attend the Festival Mozart Nits d'Estiu that will take place in July.
