L’Auditori and El Cor Canta are working on a project for next season aimed at continuing to offer a participatory concert as part of the OBC’s artistic season which permits a variety of groups to share the stage with the Orchestra.
In order to focus efforts on this new proposal and in view of the discontinuation of the European Union’s EO-LAB project within which they were previously developed, the Sing with the OBC concerts planned for this 2019-20 season will, finally, not take place.
This initiative, which permitted more than 700 singers to join forces with the Barcelona Symphony Orchestra for two seasons, has left as its legacy the creation of the El Cor Canta association, spearheaded by a group of Sing with the OBC participants.
In keeping with this legacy and the spirit of these concerts, L’Auditori, together with El Cor Canta, is reformulating the proposal and working on designing a new project that fits into the OBC’s artistic season and includes collectives from diverse backgrounds.
About El Cor Canta
El Cor Canta is a choral association founded in July 2018 and promoted by a group of amateur singers originating from the two editions of the Sing with the OBC project.
The main aim of the organisation, which has Elisenda Carrasco as its artistic director and Eva Martínez and Jordi Lluch as its musical directors, is to gain the musical training necessary to enable the group to become established as a permanent choir and position itself as one of the leading choirs in the Catalan music scene.
It can next be seen at L’Auditori on 9 February 2020 with a performance of Albert Guinovart’s Gloria and the premiere of works by Gerard López and Àngel Pérez, inspired by the poems of Joan Maragall and Joan Salvat-Papasseit.
