L’Auditori’s Chamber Music season pays tribute to the composer, pianist and music theorist Josep Cercós to commemorate the 30th anniversary of his death.L’Auditori’s Chamber Music season pays tribute to the composer, pianist and music theorist Josep Cercós to commemorate the 30th anniversary of his death. Cercós has an impressive compositional corpus, a large part of which remains unpublished, encompassing genres such as symphonic music, chamber music, stage music and works for piano and voice. His musical language shows the coexistence between tradition and a very personal conception of modernity. Pianist Miquel Villalba, a regular in L’Auditori’s Chamber Music season, and baritone Josep Cabré i Cercós, founder of the vocal quartet La Colombina, will be tasked with breathing new life into Els bells camins, which premiered in Vic in 1989 just a few weeks after the composer’s death. The cycle of songs based on the poems of Miquel Martí i Pol is a serene and passionate love song that makes his youthful music resonate. This work will be preceded by the eight Preludis ambulants, which premiered in 1954 and were written based on popular melodies that Cercós had heard sung in the streets during his childhood.
