    The Barcelona-based Portuguese artist Alfredo Costa Monteiro works at the point where the visual arts, visual poetry and sound meet. From a lo-fi perspective, what his sound installations and proposals have in common is an interest in unstable processes, raw materials and gestures, and the manipulation of objects as if they were instruments, or vice versa.

    Costa Monteiro, an active agent in the international improvisation and experimental music and sound art scene, presents in Sampler Series In Order to Avoid Disorder, a work commissioned by the Centre National de Création Musicale d’Albi-Tarn and first performed in 2018 at the Riverrun Festival. An approach that questions fate’s ability to create order.
