Ignasi Cambra performs Greig’s Piano Concerto with the Barcelona Symphony Band and Salvador Brotons

13-Nov-2020 – Aleix Palau

The pianist Ignasi Cambra will solo in the Barcelona Symphony Band concert, available for your our enjoyment live tomorrow, Saturday, at 6 pm on L’Auditori Digital. He will be performing Edvard Grieg’s Piano Concerto, one of the most emblematic works for piano and orchestra.

The programme centres on the figure of the Renaissance poet Ausiàs March. Salvador Brotons, who will be holding the baton for this programme, was inspired by these personal facets to construct the first and third movements of his Symphony No. 7. The calmness and serenity of the second movement portrays the “loving poet” of the Cants d’amor i de mort (Songs of Love and Death), while the fourth exalts the “Immortal Ausiàs”. A fascinating score conducted by the composer himself.

The programme is completed by the world premiere of Caffeine, by the composer Morphery, that L’Auditori de Barcelona commissioned from within the classrooms of the ESMUC.

L’Auditori de Barcelona has decided to extend the subscription offer of paying just €1 for L’Auditori Digital for the first month until 15 December, with unlimited access to everything on the online platform. At the end of the promotion, the monthly subscription will be priced at €7.90. Alternatively, single concerts are also available for €3.90, either streamed live or selected from its online catalogue.
