The cult project GAS from German artist Wolfgang Voigt, ambient and experimental techno specialist, presents "Narkopop". Part of the Sit Back programme by L'Auditori in association with the Mira-Digital Arts Festival.
With two decades of sound experimentation and electronic activism behind him, German artist Wolfgang Voigt can confidently assume his place as one of the most influential current artists on the ambient and experimental techno scene.
It’s no surprise that the cult project GAS is back, given that in 2016 all the project’s tracks by the Cologne artist were re-edited.
The release of the “NARKOPOP" album seventeen years on serves to revive GAS and to reaffirm its philosophy, once more endorsing its timeless qualities.
"NARKOPOP" does present some differences compared with previous works. If GAS was characterised by hypnotic effects and loop techniques, the two new pieces showcase his magic touch in a much more intricate way, with a sound which is at times reminiscent of a full symphony orchestra.
