Program

Bach is every music lover’s essential “daily bread”, and that is what makes such cross-cutting and original projects as the Bachcelona festival possible. It is completely natural for him to be part of their daily lives, just as it was for the composer himself to compose cantatas for various religious and secular uses for a long and uninterrupted period of his life.

PROGRAMThe Bach-Fundació Salvat scholarship soloists and the BZM choir, accompanied by the Bachcelona Consort, present three cantatas by the Thomaskantor from Leipzig: BWV 146 and BWV 169. Both works have in common the reusing of music that is so typical of Bach. In his first symphony, Bach uses his Concerto for Harpsichord in D minor BWV 1052; and, in the first movements of the next two, he uses another concerto for the same instrument, but this time in E (catalogue number BWV 1053), which is itself already a reworking of another solo concerto written for flute or oboe as the main instrument.
