The Spanish National Orchestra (ONE) visits L’Auditori to offer a programme led by José Luis Turina's most performed orchestral work. Fantasia sobre una fantasia, by Alonso Mudarra, is an outstanding work that recreates the music of the Spanish Renaissance from Fantasia X for viola, by 16th-century composer Alonso Mudarra.

Alberto Ginastera carved out a path for himself that embodies both technical and aesthetic advances as well as a traditional and popular background. Cello Concerto No. 2 starts from the metamorphosis of a theme by Johannes Brahms to open a neo-expressionist range impregnated with elements from traditional Argentinian music. A poetic epigraph leads each of the four movements, to structure a progressive climate of overwhelming joy and overflowing vitality.
A Hero's Life is a quintessential tone poem by Richard Strauss. The identification of the hero with the artist becomes as clear as a self-portrait: a display of dazzling orchestral resources leads a tour de force through all the stages of a victorious transformation.
