Arturo Boscovich, conductor
Music inspired the writers of Walt Disney to create stories, drawings, colours and sensations. From Bach to Tchaikovsky and from Beethoven to Stravinsky: music takes us beyond the screen and opens up a world of fantasy.
Original version with Catalan subtitles.
Walt Disney was passionate about classical music and, with the collaboration of conductor Leopold Stokowski, he created a work of art that, despite its 1940 box office flop, has become an indispensable classic in cinema history. Bach gave him splashes of colour; Beethoven, mythological stories; Mussorgsky, a terrifying chapter; Stravinsky, a particular vision of the evolution of the species, etc. And the most popular piece of all: Mickey Mouse battling the thousands of uncontrolled brooms after making a unsuccessful spell, with the music of The Sorcerer's Apprentice, by Paul Dukas, marking the rhythm.
