Have you ever heard the sound of a gamelan ? . Would you like to touch and discover how it sounds ? . A practical workshop and a treasure hunt through the various exhibition spaces will help you discover this orchestral ensemble from the island of Bali, recently acquired by the Museum .

The gamelan consists of fifteen percussion instruments and includes a wide range of sheet metalophones vertical gongs and drums of different sizes that give the whole a great sound timbre . According to tradition, all the elements comprised be manufactured by the same manufacturer , with a particular pitch and timbre. The gamelan music is closely linked to large celebrations and is inseparable from the theater and dance. Far from the occidental concept of concert music is based on collective participation and is generally performed by amateur musicians.

With the gamelan , the Museum of Music launches a new musical project with coaching workshops for enterprises, families and schools who want to work group cohesion. Read more here.
