Programme
Senior Citizens’ Choirs of Catalonia
Espardenya blanca al peu is a show based on traditional songs from the Catalan Countries, performed by choir, soloist and cobla. The repertoire combines well-known songs such as La Balanguera or Baixant de la font del gat with narrative pieces such as El testament d’Amèlia or La dama d’Aragó, as well as other songs from the traditional repertoire. Throughout the program, rhythms linked to popular tradition appear, such as the habanera, the sardana or the Catalan rumba, associated with collective singing, dance and the festive character typical of this repertoire. The show is designed so that the choir has an active and central role, in accordance with the spirit of the Cant Gran project and with the desire to bring this repertoire to different towns in the territory.
