The Barcelona Symphony Orchestra (OBC) is opening the doors of its dress rehearsals to offer secondary school and vocational training students a unique listening experience. Rehearsals with the OBC will provide students with a chance to see first-hand how a professional orchestra, consisting of over ninety musicians, prepares for a major concert.
This immersive experience will teach them about the history of the ensemble and allow them to see, up close, how the symphonies in the final repertoire take shape and evolve through constant dialogue between the conductor and the performers: tuning the instruments, adjusting the tempo, modulating the dynamics of the different sections and refining the overall sound until the desired level of precision and emotional impact is achieved.
The activity includes an educational introduction by a music educator from L’Auditori (30 minutes), attendance during the first part of the rehearsal* (45 minutes), a question and answer session at the end (15 minutes) and accompanying teaching materials for use in the classroom.
*The first part of the rehearsal may or may not coincide with the main piece of the concert, depending on the decision of the conductor.
