The artistic revolution of Beethoven, who was considered a truly romantic composer of his time, which is characteristically confirmed in his symphonies -generous in extreme sounds that invoke effects never before felt- and also in his solo concertos. Charismatic pianist Josep Colom is to tackle a score that is representative of this semantic and moving richness, Beethoven’s Piano Concert No 4 in G Major. This wide-ranging score includes the most ferocious expression of creative power yet also the subtlety of one who converses with silence and seems to harmonise it. This wild subjectivity re-appears in the symphonic narrative of the adventures and misdeeds of Don Joan in the late 19th century; a century fascinated -right from the very start- by the transgression of the spirit of Mozart’s Don Giovanni. Orchestral brilliance and the evocative power of Richard Strauss are to be deployed by the OBC under the baton of Ludovic Morlot.
