Programme
Composer Magnus Lindberg, internationally renowned for decades -resident composer of the New York Philharmonic from 2009 to 2012-, recently completed a concert for viola that is to be heard for the first time in Spain. A work reminiscent of impressionism, in which the grandeur of the Nordic landscape, with the active participation of metals, traces an emotionally intrepid frieze, with the vital presence of soloist Lawrence Power for the occasion. Including work by Lindberg in the programme at L’Auditori is nothing new and this time, in the concert conducted by Matthias Pintscher, it is to be coupled with one of the most beloved compositions of the symphonic repertoire: Brahms’ Symphony No 2. The work stands out for its lyricism that brings it closer to his experience of nature, through its wide respiration and the terrifying spontaneity of hymns of unquestionable beauty, structured with an intensity that fosters the organic transformation of materials.
