Programme

Carmen is much more than just an opera; it is the musical narration of the liberation of a woman who chooses to follow only her own desires. It will attract and bewilder all who interact with it, rekindling a romantic paradigm that revels in the impossible and ill-fated idea of possessing another.

The selected passages from Georges Bizet’s opera, including iconic works like “L’amour est un oiseau rebelle…”, will be performed by soprano Mira Alkhovik, mezzo-soprano Silvia Tro Santafé, bass-baritone Marko Mimica, and tenor Marcelo Puente.

It is a performance that illustrates the universal nature of music —through its deeply emotional language— and will be preceded by three dances by Enric Granados: Oriental, Andaluza and Rondalla aragonesa. Originally composed for piano in 1890, they were later arranged for orchestra by Joan Lamote de Grignon.

Accessible area

Attendees with reduced mobility will be able to enjoy the concerts from a reserved space or “accessible” area located at Passeig Marenostrum, 15, in front of the Desigual building.

In addition, Deaf and hard-of-hearing audience members will have the chance to test 10 vibrating backpacks* and 10 individual induction loops via the IMMERSIVE LIVE system. This service will be assisted by a professional who uses Catalan Sign Language (LSC) as their second language. Backpacks will be distributed on a first-come, first-served basis until supplies run out.

The concert will have Catalan subtitles.

*The vibrating backpacks with a tactile bass system are devices worn on the chest or back that convert sound frequencies into vibrations. They allow connection to an individual induction loop and are intended for Deaf and hard-of-hearing users.
