Programme
Once again, the Barcelona Symphony Orchestra will offer a free concert to the public as part of the Mercè Festival celebrations.
Led by Diego Martin-Etxebarria, this year’s programme is brimming with vibrant, colourful pieces that will transport us from Sibelius’s distant Finlandia to the jubilant brilliance of Rimsky-Korsakov’s Capriccio Espagnol. It will also evoke traditional Hungarian music with Kodály’s rousing Dances of Galánta, and delve into the mystery of Mussorgsky’s Night on Bald Mountain. As a prelude, a delightful piece entitled Temps de matinada written in 1948 by Leonora Milà, a child prodigy pianist from Vilanova i la Geltrú, when she was only six years old.
