Programme
Austrian cellist Valerie Fritz is a tireless explorer. Her concerts are always thrilling experiences that touch everyone in the audience as she expertly guides us on a journey through the intertwining relationships between music from different eras. Fritz’s concert at Festival Emergents brings together Johann Sebastian Bach’s Cello Suite No. 2 by with classics from the contemporary cello repertoire, including Benjamin Britten’s Suite for Solo Cello No. 3, the third movement of George Crumb’s Sonata for Cello, George Aperghis’s Quatre récitations and Peter Eötvös’s Two Poems to Polly. It also brings this dialogue to the present day with Artur Fuentes’s newly created Mood, Josef Haller’s arrangement of the medieval song Latuit and the co-commission by L’Auditori and ECHO to composer Jennifer Walshe.
