Programme
Irene Reig’s career began with the Sant Andreu Jazz Band and later took her to Amsterdam, Philadelphia and then back to Barcelona. The saxophonist has established herself as a key figure in the current jazz scene in Catalonia, where women are becoming more and more prominent, and where jazz with deep roots in bebop is returning to the fore, with Brazilian music as a vital aesthetic beacon. With her energy and expressive force, the Barcelona-born musician has established her position at the forefront of a group of musicians whose work focuses on a specific period of American jazz, but bringing with it a contemporary twist.
