Programme
Held in the Ésglesia del Pi church in Barcelona, this concert featuring soprano Elionor Martínez and The Rare Fruits Council immerses us in the richness of Baroque music from northern Germany, with works by Dietrich Buxtehude (1637–1707) and Jan Adam Reincken (1643–1722). Buxtehude’s cantatas – Schaffe in mir, Gott, Singet dem Herrn and O dulcis Jesu – combine spiritual intensity, rhetorical expressiveness and a wide variety of vocal and instrumental textures. His sonatas, full of contrasts and freedom of form, showcase a living, imaginative language. Sonata VI from Reincken’s Hortus Musicus brings elegance, virtuosity and a refined counterpoint. All in all, the programme evokes a vibrant soundscape, where devotion, drama and musical invention come together in a colourful, energetic dialogue.
