This morning, at the Antiga Fàbrica Damm (Old Damm Brewery), saw the celebration of the Enderrock Awards 2020, which honoured L’Auditori for its two decades of history.
L’Auditori’s director, Robert Brufau, collected the award on behalf of the institution and explained that “20 years has permitted us to consolidate a project that currently produces and programmes more than 500 concerts each season, brings together half a million people of all ages and offers activities for 250,000 children, working with more than 1,000 schools around Catalonia”.
The Enderrock Group recognised the significance of the fact that on “its 20th anniversary, L’Auditori de Barcelona is the home of the Barcelona Symphony Orchestra, the Barcelona Symphony Band, Catalonia College of Music (ESMUC) and the Museu de la Música. But, after twenty years as a public facility, it has also been a stage for hundreds of musicians. It is an impeccable space, both acoustically and visually, which, in 2007, was the first concert hall in Spain to become a member of the European Concert Hall Organisation, the most prestigious association of music venues in Europe. In addition to this, the classical and modern music programme is completed with an educational service for all sections of society”.
Along with L’Auditori, the Enderrock Awards honoured the record labels Gandula (10 years) and Kasba Music (15 years) and the music venues the Liceu (20 years since its reopening), Cafè Slàvia (25 years) and Jazzman (40 years). The Catalunya Ràdio programme “Mans” (15 years), the festival Guitar BCN (30 years), the company Alter Sinergies (15 years) and the cultural platform Lapsus (15 years) will also receive recognition.
