Dorian Wood and Chavela Vargas. Both of Costa Rican origin, with a shared birthday (April 17) and the incorruptible desire to live the life that everyone wants to live. Coinciding with the centenary this year of the unforgettable vocals of La Llorona, Dorian Wood, who, two years ago, with the magnificent Xalá, released her first album entirely in Spanish, and paid tribute to Chavela with the show Xavela Lux Aeterna, a very personal event replete with Costa Rican folk songs and with the participation of an exquisite string quartet led by the Valencian Alberto Montero. “For those who society has pushed aside, Chavela is a divine presence”, asserts this powerful voice forged in the queer scene of Los Angeles, the protagonist of suggestive performances and with a biography full of projects marked by avant-garde eagerness and constant artistic research. Paloma negra, Se me olvidó otra vez, Piensa en mí… A night to remember Chavela and to enjoy the captivating and exciting art of Dorian Wood at the same time. Music without genre.
