DE DIEGO BROTHERS are 25. A quarter of a century ago, Joan, the youngest of the musical brothers from Bilbao landed in Barcelona. Waiting for him was the nagusi Bittor, who had arrived 4 years earlier to get involved with the jazz movement in the Catalan capital, playing in the emerging venues of the time alongside musicians who would later become well known on the national jazz scene (Jordi Bonell, Jordi Rossy, David Xirgu and Albert Bover).
The DE DIEGO BROTHERS formed in ‘93. Their music is based on pieces by artists such as Lee Morgan, Horace Silver and Joe Henderson. They have a blue note sound, with a touch of funk and boogaloo.
They are back in the studio again after releasing two albums, performing at a host of festivals, tours and clubs and after a two-year period in which Victor and Juan established their own groups and worked on endless different projects. Their new album of original compositions still embodies the DE DIEGO BROTHERS flavour: straight forward, warm and fresh jazz.
