Program
Since its foundation in 2003, the Anton Bruckner Choir has grown continuously in quality and maturity—as demonstrated by awards received at the Malgrat de Mar International Choir Competition (2011), the 34th Fira de Tots Sants de Cocentaina Choral Contest (2014) and its participation in the Orfeó Català Choral Cycle at the Palau de la Música Catalana (2016)—enjoying great public and critical acclaim. Directed by Júlia Sesé since 2012, the Anton Bruckner Choir presents a programme entitled La Llum de la Neu where we are invited to take a thought-provoking journey between these two elements, light and snow. The first part, dedicated to snow, delves into dense pieces with contemporary tones, including Snø by Catalan composer Pol Requesens and Un Soir de Neige by Francis Poulenc, a composition recorded by the choir in 2016. The second part, dedicated to light, brings us a more transparent repertoire of a Neoclassical nature, in which light is established as a creative force with works by Catalans Bernat Vivancos (Lux Surgit Aurea) and Josep Ollé (Lux), London-born John Rutter (Hymn to the Creator of Light) and American Eric Whitacre (Lux Aurumque).
