Program

Since its foundation in 2003, the Anton Bruckner Choir has grown continuously in quality and ‎maturity—as demonstrated by awards received at the Malgrat de Mar International Choir ‎Competition (2011), the 34th Fira de Tots Sants de Cocentaina Choral Contest (2014) and its ‎participation in the Orfeó Català Choral Cycle at the Palau de la Música Catalana (2016)—‎enjoying great public and critical acclaim. Directed by Júlia Sesé since 2012, the Anton ‎Bruckner Choir presents a programme entitled La Llum de la Neu where we are ‎invited to take a thought-provoking journey between these two elements, light and snow. ‎The first part, dedicated to snow, delves into dense pieces with contemporary tones, ‎including Snø by Catalan composer Pol Requesens and Un Soir de ‎Neige by Francis Poulenc, a composition recorded by the choir in 2016. The second ‎part, dedicated to light, brings us a more transparent repertoire of a Neoclassical nature, in ‎which light is established as a creative force with works by Catalans Bernat Vivancos ‎‎(Lux Surgit Aurea) and Josep Ollé (Lux), London-born John Rutter ‎‎(Hymn to the Creator of Light) and American Eric Whitacre (Lux ‎Aurumque).‎
