Program

Music can be staged in many different ways: Veus opts to do so with colour and movement, combining sound with visual details to create an integral spectacle. On this occasion we are invited to join Veus on a journey through the universe of music. Beginning in the here and now, with a contemporary work by Catalan composer Bernat Vivancos, we then leap into the past with music by Josep Maria Ruera, another composer from Granollers, and Valencian born Eduardo López-Chávarri.
Then we travel to America for two works which are reminiscent of African music, with a certain spiritual touch: Baba Yetu, by Christopher Tin and Nothin’ Gonna Stumble My Feet by Greg Gilpin. Religious texts have also been used by Japanese composer Hideki Chihara in Kirishitan-Imayo and the Japanese-American composer Kentano Sato in O Lux Beatisima. The programme concludes with Song of Hope by Susanna Lindmark, which has become an anthem for Veus, and Wau Bulan by Malaysian composer Tracy Wong, an expression of hope and an appeal to the universal nature of music.
