Program

The first description of an ensemble of instruments of the violin family in England was encapsulated in the words of the French ambassador at the court of Henry VIII. This particular ensemble, specialising in the historically-informed performance of the Baroque repertoire, has picked up on these words and made them its own. The main thrust of their work is based on these origins: researching music for a violin consort and its development, and also the influence of these string instruments on later genres. With a careful aesthetic, which as well as looking to the past also looks to the future, they have a distinct approach to rethinking the old. This endeavour has led them to collaborate with artists from other artistic disciplines, giving an image to the sound.

Coming from different European and American countries, and being trained, therefore, all over the world, their collective paths crossed in Barcelona, where they decided to form this “personal space to experiment and create”. They have been invited to join the European programme EEEMERGING+ and in 2020 won the NEWTRACKS@FBAS selection for up-and-coming early music groups.
