Program
The beautiful melancholic melodies written by Wagner for words written by Mathilde Wesendonck and Bruckner’s most popular symphony. A breathtakingly romantic and extremely poetic programme. The baton of German conductor Marc Albrecht and the voice of the young Norwegian soprano Lise Davidsen bring us one of Wagner’s few non-operatic works, the author of the phrase: “I only know one composer who compares to Beethoven, and that is Bruckner”. For his part, Bruckner considered Wagner to be “the unreachable world-famous noble master of poetry and music”. Bruckner was a musician devoted to God, and composed many sacred works, but also romantic ones, as he proved in his Fourth symphony. In it he musically portrays day-to-day moments in an idyllic town: the dawn, the magic of nature, the hunt, popular music and bird song.
