Program
In any culture, the symbiotic relationship between music and dance creates a space for exceptionally pure and sincere hedonism. The Barcelona Symphonic Band plans to take part in the city’s annual festival with music that reminds us how every culture expresses itself through dance. Celebrations give us an insight into the soul of a community, and there is no better way to portray this than in music and dance. We pay homage to greats such as the recently departed English composer Joseph Horowitz and Catalan musicians Joan Lamote de Grignon, Joaquim Serra, and Manel Oltra on the 150th, 115th and 100th anniversaries of their births, respectively. We will immerse ourselves in dance music from all around the world, with works by composers such as Japan’s Yosuke Fukuda and the Colombian Victoriano Valencia-Rincón. It’s party time, time to create and share culture. See you there!
