Yves Segers studied for ten years at the Koninklijk Conservatorium Brussel, where he obtained four diplomas, including three master’s degrees in flute, wind band conducting, and orchestral conducting. He studied with teachers such as Carlos Bruneel, Norbert Nozy, and Silveer Van de Broeck, and attended masterclasses with Emmanuel Pahud, Patrick Gallois, and others. As a flautist, he won competitions such as Axion Classics and Tenuto, and was selected to take part in international competitions in Denmark and Geneva.

At the age of 17, he joined the Flanders Youth Philharmonic Orchestra, with which he undertook international tours and recordings. At 22, he successfully passed the auditions to join the Royal Symphonic Band of the Belgian Guides, while simultaneously collaborating with prestigious ensembles such as the Orchestra of La Monnaie, the Prometheus Ensemble, and Il Novecento, often as a soloist. At the same time, he continued to refine his conducting skills with Lucas Vis, Bart Bouckaert, and other mentors.

In 2008, he was appointed principal conductor of the Royal Symphonic Band of the Belgian Guides, with which he has given numerous concerts and recordings featuring internationally renowned soloists. He has conducted orchestras such as the Brussels Philharmonic, the National Orchestra of Belgium, and the Bilbao Municipal Band, and has also conducted a concert at the Kremlin. He has premiered works by leading composers and, in 2018, received the Fuga-Trofee for his contribution to Belgian music. Likewise, he is currently Professor of Conducting at the Koninklijk Conservatorium Brussel and regularly takes part in international masterclasses and competition juries.
