Made up of Joel Bardolet (violin), Pau Codina (cello) and Marc Heredia (piano), the Trio Fortuny has been working since 2016 to share an approach to making music based on listening, sincerity and dialogue between different aesthetics and times. Influenced by musicians Dmitri Bashkirov, Ferenc Rados, Rainer Schmidt and Claudio Martínez Mehner, the trio combine their personal careers – as soloists, members of orchestras or collaborating with contemporary creators – with a steadfast dedication to chamber music.
They usually perform at venues such as the Palau de la Música Catalana – as a resident group from 2023 to 2026 – L’Auditori de Barcelona and the Auditorio Nacional de Madrid, and in leading series such as Iberfirms and Comparto BBVA. They have also taken part in festivals such as the Festival International de Musique de Wissembourg, the Festival de Torroella de Montgrí, Bachcelona, the Festival de Música de Ciutadella, Barcelona Obertura and the Klassisk Sommer Festival in Fanø.
Committed to contemporary creation, the Trio Fortuny have worked closely with composers such as Joan Magrané and Josep Maria Guix. The group have also developed interdisciplinary projects such as a collaboration with the Mal Pelo dance company in the show La Nit. Their performances are regularly recorded by media outlets such as Catalunya Música, Radio Nacional and the BBC.
Released in March 2024, their first album. Echoes, includes Tchaikovsky’s Trio in A Minor, Op. 50, Trois nocturnes by Joan Magrané (premiere recording) and Josef Suk’s Elegy.
Upcoming engagements include Beethoven’s Triple Concerto on 7 February with the Vallès Symphony Orchestra at the Palau de la Música Catalana, and Joan Magrané’s Triple Concerto on 12 April with the GIO Symphonia.
