Sara Mingardo is a trained vocalist from her birthplace, Venice, where she studied at the Benedetto Marcello Conservatory with Franco Ghitti and at the Accademia Musicale Chigiana in Siena. After winning several of Europe’s most prestigious music competitions, she pursued an international career that has seen her perform regularly at the world’s leading opera houses. She made her debut in 1987 playing Fidalma in Domenico Cimarosa’s Il matrimonio segreto in Avezzano.

Since then, her artistic career has made rapid progress, taking her to renowned stages and participating in prominent international festivals. In 1989, she performed at the Salzburg Festival, the Teatro Regio in Turin and the Teatro di San Carlo in Naples. Later, she was invited to perform at La Scala in Milan, the Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia in Rome, the Royal Opera House in London, the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam, Carnegie Hall in New York and the Zurich Opera House. She frequently performs at the Lucerne Festival and the Salzburg Festival. Among others, she has appeared with well-known orchestras such as the London Symphony Orchestra, the Boston Symphony Orchestra, the New York Symphony Orchestra and the Mahler Chamber Orchestra. In addition, she has collaborated with conductors including Colin Davis, Claudio Abbado, Rinaldo Alessandrini, Pierre Boulez, Jordi Savall, John Eliot Gardiner, Ivor Bolton and Zubin Mehta.

Her repertoire ranges from Monteverdi to Mahler, although she is particularly devoted to Baroque music.
