Claudi Bombardó Oriol is a choreographer and performing arts teacher. He trained as a ballet dancer in Barcelona and Germany and graduated from the Heinz-Bosl-Stiftung Ballet Academy in Munich. At the same time, from 1982 to 1988, he studied music theory and clarinet at the Conservatori Superior Municipal de Música in Barcelona. He holds an advanced Diploma in Dance Education from the Institut del Teatre’s Higher Dance Conservatory in 2015.

A dancer with the Vienna State Ballet (Wiener Staats Oper Ballett, StaatsBallett) from 1992 to 2004, he performed the classical repertoire of this historic company, as well as its neo-classical, modern and newly created repertoire.

Since 1993, he has presented his choreographies at various European institutions and with different international companies.

In 2004, together with choreography assistant, dance teacher and ballerina Nora Sitges-Sardà, he founded the Contrapunctus Danceport company in Barcelona, with which he has premièred full-length pieces at various venues, such as the Mercat de les Flors and the SAT! Sant Andreu Teatre, in Barcelona; the Odeon in Vienna; Malibrant in Venice, and the Suzanne Dellal Centrein Tel Aviv, as well as at festivals such as the Barcelona Grec 2012, the Festival Espurnes Barroques and the Festival 10 Sentidos in Valencia, among others.

Since 2008, he has been part of the teaching team of the Professional Dance Conservatory at the Institut del Teatre in Barcelona, as a resident choreographer and lecturer in performing arts practices, improvisation and composition. Choreography has also led him to participate in educational projects with primary schools, such as the Mercat de les Flors’ Tàndem project. He has also worked with other creators on concerts, operas, plays and audiovisual projects. Over the course of his career, he has created and premièred over 70 pieces around the world.
