- Emergents Barcelona Music Festival
Each season, the European Concert Hall Organisation (ECHO) selects their Rising Stars, exceptional young musicians who are offered the opportunity to tour the organisation’s network of auditoriums.
The Festival Emergents Barcelona presents three ECHO Rising Stars: the Aris Quartett, also chosen by the BBC as one of their New Generation Artists and who have already released five albums; the multi-award winning violinist Diana Tishchenko, who has already performed as a soloist with leading orchestras around Europe; and the multifaceted percussionist Vanessa Porter, who combines the classical repertoire with improvisation, electronics and performance art in tours around the world. The concerts of these three musicians will include works from the classical repertoire, such as the String Quartet in D major, Op. 44, No. 1, by Felix Mendelssohn, and Divertimento for violin and piano from the ballet The Fairy’s Kiss, by Igor Stravinsky; contemporary compositions such as Dancer on a Tightrope for violin and piano, by Sofia Gubaidulina; and The Anvil Chorus for multipercussion, by David Lang, in addition to national premieres of works commissioned by ECHO and L’Auditori to young composers Misato Mochizuki, Vasco Mendonça, Emil Kuyumcuyan and Alexander Sandi Kuhn.
