At just 23, the Romanian cellist Andrei Ioniţă has become one of the great interpreters of the moment and has won, among other awards, the 2015 Tchaikovsky Prize.

Alongside the pianist Naoko Sonoda, Andrei will perform some of the great works for cello: the last Sonatas for Cello Opus 102 by Beethoven (Nos. 4 and 5),Gaspar Cassadó's Suite for Solo Cello as well as Stravinsky's Italian Suite which the Russian composed for cello and piano based on his ballet Pulcinella created a few years earlier. Catalonia, known for its great cellists, should take careful note of this debut.
