The Barcelona Symphonic Band is one of the city’s oldest musical ensembles. Founded in 1886 by Barcelona City Council, L’Auditori de Barcelona has been its home since 2007 and is the venue for its regular concert season. It works on projects in association with national and international artists and groups. José R. Pascual-Vilaplana has been the principal conductor since september 2018.
In 2016 the Barcelona Symphonic Band marks 130 years of staying true to the aims for which it was originally created, bringing music by great composers to the public through high quality performances. It has also learnt to adapt to new challenges by expanding the current concert band repertoire, commissioning new works by Catalan composers and working with a diverse group of artists.
Today, the Barcelona Symphonic Band is an organisation committed to the society around it, the giving of its time and actively investing in the Barcelona instrumental scene.
