Program

Antonio Vivaldi composed Gloria when he was 22 years old. It is an icon among his religious ‎works, notable for its force and vitality, especially the joyful chorus in the overture. Lost for ‎over 200 years, this piece was rediscovered in the 1920s and performed once again in Siena in ‎‎1939. Marc-Antoine Charpentier’s Te Deum has to be one of this prolific, multi-faceted ‎Baroque French composer’s best known works. The prelude to this work is familiar to many ‎people, as it has been used as the opening theme music for the Eurovision Song Contest. The ‎concert will end with Johann Adolf Hasse’s Symphony in G minor, which is dedicated to all ‎those who have suffered the effects of COVID-19.
