.Pure beauty: the most optimistic of Mozart’s symphonies, the most delicate songs of Strauss and Shostakovich’s most popular work, under the baton of Emmanuel Krivine and with the warm voice of Finnish Camilla Nylund.
Mozart said that the French public had little musical criteria, but gave them a beautiful symphony, full of good humour, which quickly became very popular. A year before his death, Strauss composed the Four Last Songs, a perfect symbiosis between the voice and orchestral finesse that has become one of the most delicate works of the author and a challenge for performers. Of the 15 symphonies by Shostakovich, the Fifth is the most played and certainly the most appreciated since the day of its release when it was met with over half an hour of applause.
