    Program

The great Sarah Chang, one of the brightest stars in the musical firmament, offers one of the essential works of the romantic repertoire: the spectacular Concerto by Dvorák. Nothing better to accompany her than the memory of the popular fight that Shostakovich translated into music in the Symphony no. 11
All violinists like to play the Dvorák Concerto, a work written with the direct advice of the virtuosos of the time. The level of technical resources required is infinite, and overcoming this challenge is only within the reach of glittering figures like Sarah Chang. Shostakovich never got used to the roller coaster in which he lived: he could suddenly find himself enthroned as the most loved Soviet composer, and, shortly thereafter, see how his music was banned. After the Symphony no. 11, inspired by the popular revolt of 1905, he received the honors: the success was so great that he was awarded the Lenin Prize and was rehabilitated forever.
