Sampler Sèries and the OBC open the Sónar Festival with the national premiere of Become Ocean, by the American composer John Luther Adams, which won the 2014 Pulitzer Prize for Music and the 2015 Grammy Award for Best Classical Contemporary Composition. Described by Alex
Ross (The New Yorker) as‘the loveliest apocalypse in musical history’, Become Ocean is a 42-minute long immersive experience, a musical recreation with three orchestral groups fl uctuating like ocean waves, evolving, overlapping and forming an
awesome wave at the climax of the piece.
